I have more than 10 years experience as Managing Director of BIC Lazio, one of the most active Business & Innovation Centres (BIC) in Italy. It is part of the 160 BICs network coordinated by EBN, the Association which promotes the BIC model inside and outside Europe.
I covered several positions in the network, among them I have been the President of EBN for 3 years (2007-2010) and the President of BIC Italia, the Italian chapter of EBN for five years (2002-2007).
My training includes also several years of experience in regional development programmes.
For years I have been attending many National and International Events, promoting the transnational co-operation among incubators and client companies. I believe that incubation is a process of a wide range of tasks not only an infrastructure, its core business is the ability to integrate and act as an interface among different competencies to support in “practice” the development of business ideas and projects.
Finally, I believe that the real challenge to support innovation in entrepreneurship is the promotion of networks of S.M.E.s in a world-wide context. Incubators and others intermediary organisations should do that with a social and flexible approach, and using business models tailored to each local context needs.
