I am a protein biochemist with experience in the purification and characterization of functional proteins, enzymology and development of protein biomarkers. I currently hold the position of Postdoctoral Researcher with Shannon ABC/ IT Tralee (Ireland) and specialise in the development of enzyme activities for the production of macro-algae derived oligosaccharides and chitin/chitosan derived oligosaccharides for crop protection and yield enhancement.
I am named inventor on a number of patents and has also published and presented widely in the field of phytochemistry and plant physiology.
I received my Degree in Chemistry from the University of Navarra (Spain), a MSc in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Complutense University of Madrid (Spain) and completed my PhD in Plant Protein Biochemistry at ICTAN-CSIC (Spain) and Complutense University of Madrid (Spain). I have also previously worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Max Planck Institute of Plant Breeding Research (Cologne, Germany).
Specialties: Protein chemistry, activity based protein profiling (ABPP), isolation and purification techniques (native and recombinant proteins), FPLC (ÄKTA system), SDS-PAGE, Western blot techniques, RT-PCR, HPLC, MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry, enzymology, microcalorimetry, UV-vis, FT-IR, GLP/GMP, formulation of novel methodologies.
